The University of Zakho participated in the 2nd International Conference of the Arab Association of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery (AACTSs)

The University of Zakho represented by Dr. Ahmad H. Ibrahim, Department of Biological Sciences, participated in the 2nd International Conference of the Arab Association of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery (AACTSs), which was held on 6 th -7 th April 2016, at Le Royal Hotel, Amman, Jordan. The event was held under the patronage of H.E. Dr. Abdalla Ensour Prime Minister of Jordan and in the presence of the Minister of Environment of Jordan H.E., Dr. Taher Shakhshir.

The conference program was designed to provide the latest scientific knowledge in the field of thoracic and cardiovascular surgery as witnessed by the large number of invited speakers and participants. Academic lecturers, professors and professional Medical doctors also attended this event from America, France, Britain, Greece, Portugal, Spain, Egypt, Iraq and Saudi Arabia.

As the conference discussed distinctive researches in the field of cardiac surgery and vascular diseases, each participant displayed it expertise in this arena. The president of the Private Hospitals Association, Dr. Fawzi Hammouri gave a speech about medical tourism and how it has evolved through the ages and the importance of the development of medical science in the world.

On the second day, Dr. Ahmad H. Ibrahim presented 2 papers; the first paper was about proangiogenesis and cell migration via vascular endothelial growth. The second paper discussed clinical and histopathological study in the heart of Sprague dawley Rats. At the end of the conference, the participants pointed out the importance of attending such conferences that provide the opportunity to exchange experiences and discuss the latest developments in the profession among the participants in order to serve the medical profession and humanity in general.
